AC Shadows Introduces Unexpected Attack on Titan Event for Holiday Season
In a bizarre collaboration that defies conventional expectations, Ubisoft has revealed an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, providing complimentary extra story content for Shadows players.
Peculiar Mission Disclosed
According to the formal announcement, "A strange meeting draws heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a original quest, where rumors of prohibited rituals and monstrous metamorphoses echo through the shadows." The plot presents a "unusually attired woman named Ada" who tasks the characters with venturing into the Crystal Cave—a important location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her companion from a clandestine group.
The questline focuses on "peculiar experiments and a fearsome enemy" and is accessible to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Recognizable Locations and Metamorphoses
The teaser showcases the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was earlier where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through ages. The trailer ends with a dramatic moment showing a character, probably the captive, morphing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Exclusive Items and Extra Features
Players who finish the mission will receive an unique katana alongside several objects hidden throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also contains premium Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-inspired costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Exclusive arms
- Survey Corps steed
Third Free Story Addition
This update also brings the game's third complimentary story addition, titled "The Mystery." This humorous adventure teams Naoe and Yasuke as they swap signature skills: Naoe reveals a dramatic interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters subduing stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Mystery" also includes a original environmental puzzle that may ultimately explain some lingering questions from the main storyline.
Past Anime Collaborations
This marks hardly the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with famous anime properties. The series previously featured a 2020 cross-promotional story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla subtly contained a quest that clearly echoed the famous series One-Punch Man.
