Brian Eno Encourages Public Help to Get Palestinian Solidarity Lullaby to UK Holiday Chart Peak.

A fundraising initiative is aiming to send a Palestinian lullaby to the peak of the festive singles chart. The effort seeks to send support to communities in Gaza while also spotlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.

An Opportunity for Support and an "Chart Upset"

Composer and producer Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a moment to show solidarity with Palestinians over the Christmas period. He remarked the potential for an unexpected chart success.

“That would be amazing if that came to pass, yes,” he said. “I won't be completely disheartened if it fails to, holiday tracks are a thing unto themselves.”

Powerful Theme of Freedom and Dignity

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the adaptation of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's resilient spirit.

“It has a profound significance for a lot of people,” Barghouti explained. “The message is that I would prefer a dignified death than exist without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we want to live a dignified life that we merit as a people.”

Recording Origins and Contributing Musicians

The song was recorded after a solidarity show held in September. Initially planned to be done as a live recording, the rendition was cut from the show due to time constraints.

The diverse array of artists appearing on Lullaby encompasses a selection of prominent voices from the music world. All participated in the earlier concert, which successfully generated a significant sum for humanitarian aid.

Production and Release

Lullaby was crafted by a group of music creators. The single blends a mix of the traditional Arabic lyrics with new English lyrics.

The team running the initiative have stated that their objective is to collect the highest amount for a charitable pot. These donations will be allocated to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an non-profit partner.

“We haven't set a rigid aim,” a figure explained. “We’ll go for as much as possible. Of course, the more the merrier. Every penny goes out to Gaza.”

The context in the area was characterized as its widespread damage, with a overwhelming percentage of buildings said to be in ruins or severely impacted.

“In that context, a couple of million doesn’t make that much difference. But I think the significant factor is above all raising awareness for this issue and showing that another narrative exists.”

The song is scheduled for release this Friday. Additionally, a video of the charity concert will be made ready to watch on a digital service from the 19th of December.
