Close to 25,000 Experiencing Power in Queensland and Victorian Regions Following Powerful Storms
Nearly 25,000 homes in Queensland's southeast were left experiencing outages on Monday morning after powerful weather events passed over the area, bringing wind gusts reaching over 100 km/h.
Massive Ice Stones and Extensive Impact
Residents reported giant hailstones measuring up to 7cm in some areas. Meteorological experts confirmed that different parts across the state had been impacted by large hailstones.
This afternoon's storm has absolutely smashed our infrastructure!
Utility workers were attempting to repair power throughout the impacted areas, with nearly 70 crews activated to manage the numerous electricity disruptions.
Victoria's Weather Woes
At the same time, approximately 1,000 residents in the southern state also experienced energy failures after the metropolitan area experienced its heaviest rainfall in over 500 days.
Rescue organizations responded to nearly 600 calls for help across the region, primarily for structural issues but also for collapsed vegetation and inundation.

- The Werribee area - experienced significant storm damage
- Hoppers Crossing area - multiple rescue reports
- Wyndham area - over 175 calls for assistance
At one point on Sunday, in excess of 28k electricity consumers in Victoria were lacking electricity.
Climate Outlook
Moist weather were expected to linger along much of eastern Queensland this week as a weather pattern continued to draw in moisture against the coastal areas.
Tomorrow was forecast to be the most rainy day, with continued severe weather risk anticipated across various areas of both areas.
Safety Concern
Public health experts cautioned that there was an greater possibility of weather-related respiratory issues across the state's northern country region, especially given the existing atmospheric conditions.
This warning comes after historical occurrences where comparable situations led to substantial respiratory problems in the area.
