Followers Call for Detainment of Individual Who Seized Ariana Grande
Loyal followers of the pop star are calling for that a individual who leaped a fence and grabbed the actress during yesterday's Wicked: For Good debut be taken into custody or expelled from Singapore.
A circulating clip shows the person identified as Johnson Wen shoving aside media personnel and rushing toward Grande while the performers proceeded down a yellow carpet accompanied by supporters.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo immediately wrested the surprised actress away from Mr Wen, who was observed being led away of the gathering by event staff.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram recently that he was "let go after being arrested", though court documents revealed that he was set to appear on the next day. It is unknown if he was charged.
Pattern of Incidents
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Controversial Figure", has invaded a celebrity gathering. His Instagram feed contains clips of him disturbing other high-profile occasions, including breaching the performance area at the pop singer's Sydney show in June this year and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers event in the city last year.
"Steps should be implemented taken against him as this is clearly a punishable act," stated an Instagram commenter, in a reply to a video Mr Wen shared of his behavior.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" another Instagram user questioned.
Supporters Voice Worry Over Grande's Past Trauma
Several followers blamed Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had spoken of dealing with trauma-related anxiety after a terrorist explosion at the end of her 2017 concert in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and harming many.
"Ariana has been through so many scary things... and at her Manchester concert and you thought it would be fun to jump the barricade?" wrote one more comment on Instagram.
Several attendees also faulted guards at the Thursday event for not being adequately prepared; while some requested social media platforms to ban Mr Wen's videos.
Aftermath and Event Details
In videos shared widely, Grande appeared shocked when she was touched by the man. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted reassuring her while Mr Wen was removed by staff.
Grande has remained silent on the incident, and the premiere activities carried on uninterrupted.
Numerous of supporters had gathered in a sea of emerald and rose at the Wicked: For Good regional debut in a Singapore venue, including some who had queued for as long as a significant duration before it started.
The motion picture, to be launched on 21 November, is the sequel of a two-film interpretation of the popular theatrical show Wicked, which revolves around the unexpected relationship between two contrasting sorceresses.
The production itself is a derivative of the twentieth-century book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who acts as the good witch Glinda, was adorned in a champagne pink sparkling outfit at the gathering while Erivo, who plays the wicked witch, wore a elegant ensemble featuring roses.
They were accompanied by cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the highest-grossing motion picture of 2024 in the UK, and scored 10 Oscar nominations, earning a pair for excellent wardrobe and production design.
