Slot Asserts He Feels Secure and Has Liverpool's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Defeat

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it's understandable for concerns to be raised about his future after a further heavy defeat versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their ninth defeat in twelve games, marking the team's poorest run after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a tough evening at their home ground.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I've received a lot of backing from above,” the coach stated.

“It would be great to turn it around and earn three points obviously but if you are in a managerial role and struggling then it's typical that people question you.”

He added, “I'm comfortable with my position. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a tough spot but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.”

Discussions with Club Management

When asked to expand on his conversations with the club's leadership, the head coach explained:

“We communicate frequently. They are supportive to the team and for me and those talks happen but they aren't calling me every single minute of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “Through standard conversations we have I feel the confidence. But I haven’t spoken to them after this defeat yet so let’s see.”

Recurring Failings and Squad Response

Slot highlighted known shortcomings from his team in their Champions League loss, specifically missed opportunities and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more forthright in his assessment of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the solutions. Honestly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everybody,” Jones said.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don't have to wait to consider it. I’m past feeling anger inside. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I've watched Liverpool since I was young.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Reds side experiencing a spell such as this with performances like these.”

Jones stated, “But we continue to wear the crest on our shirts. And as long as that badge is gone, we will always fight.”

“We’re going to try to help the side return to where it needs to be, show everyone again what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the best team in the planet.”

“But right now, things are bad and it needs to change.”
